The Republic of North Macedonia is located in the Balkans, where Muslims make up about 40% of the population, most of whom are Albanians. Like in other Balkan countries, Muslims in North Macedonia suffered from a war aimed at uprooting them from their lands, which led to social, cultural, and religious challenges that specifically affected the lives of Muslims. To support religious freedom for Muslims in the Balkans, the International Association for Humanitarian Friendship is working on projects that support Muslim religious activities in the region. The association, in collaboration with its partners in North Macedonia, has distributed Qurans to some mosques.
